I’m Not On Social Media

I'm Not On Social Media

I’m Not On Social Media — NO Facebook. No Instagram. No Linked In. No Messenger. No Pinterest. No Telegram. No TikTok. No Twitter or X (or whatever they call themselves next), No WhatsApp, No WeChat, and No YouTube — Absolutely None of It

I have SnapChat — but only for my immediate family and friends.

If you see something on social media from me — it’s not from me. It’s just somebody copying or reposting my work. I want to make sure that’s clear. I’m Not On Social Media.

If you’re talking to someone on social media and think it’s me — It’s Definitely Not — Because I’m Not On Social Media. I want to make sure that’s clear — because I don’t want anyone to be taken advantage of by some fraudulent imposter. Beware of the con-artists and trolls.

People are always asking me why I’m Not On Social Media — So, Here’s Why:

Why Would I Be? — I answer questions on a private discussion board all day for a living. Why in the hell would anyone think that I would want to get on a public discussion board of total and complete strangers and discuss their problems with them for free? — I wouldn’t.

I Value My Privacy — I’m happy to share my perception and understanding with people for a living — but when I’m not working — I spend my time with my dogs, my wife, and my family and friends — and we have a right to privacy — and I value it.

People posting their personal life to the general public and total strangers is just strange.

Protecting My Privacy — Social Media exposes you to Identity Theft, Predators, and Scams — so, if you are on social media, you have to be very careful and smart about it. My solution is to simply avoid social media altogether — because most of it is worthless bullshit anyway.

People Are Ignorant, Immature, & Irresponsible — People have been handed the most powerful communication technology ever created — without earning the responsibility of knowing how to use it responsibly, respectfully, or wisely. People have been handed the ability to reach other people around the world — and they want to post worthless bullshit, drama, gossip, and lies — or selfies of their own ass or tits. And absolutely none of it contributes to the quality of your consciousness.

Do you know how many things on Social Media are Dangerous, Harmful, or Wrong?

Just because somebody’s showing you how to do something on YouTube, doesn’t necessarily mean that they know what they’re doing. The Arrogance of Ignorance is prevalent in this world.

Harassment & Hate — Social Media is polluted with harassment and hate.

Lies, Libel, & Slander — Social Media is infested with malicious lies, libel, & slander designed to damage and discredit the good reputation of others — ie. smear campaigns. Lies, Libel, & Slander are supposed to be Illegal and Punishable by Law — but Social Media is virtually impossible to monitor or regulate — so nobody does anything about it and criminals get away with spreading malicious emotional diarrhea, lies, and vomit.

Fake News, Disinformation, & Propaganda — Social Media is infested with activists, criminals, and politicians intentionally misleading society with misinformation and political strategies.

Fear Campaigns — Social Media pushes and sells fear as much as the mainstream news does.

Freedom of Speech? — People think that freedom of speech gives them the right to express any opinion without restraint. But people don’t even understand that the very definition and purpose of words are supposed to be meaningful and truthful statements. Opinions are beliefs, judgements, and views — not necessarily facts, knowledge, or truth. Apparently confusion, lies, ignorance, disinformation, and misinformation are all allowed in a System of Social Media that advocates and worships the human ego, emotional drivel, and dysfunction.

Delusional Schizophrenics — Anyone with a computer or smart phone can post just about anything they want — regardless of whether or not it is appropriate, actual, factual, or true — and there are some very seriously mentally ill, perverted, and sick people in this world. Social Media has become their platform — an opportunity to voice their delusions and insanity.

Extremist Cliques — Birds of a Feather Flock Together — and one of the dangers of Social Media is that once you have a platform for extremists, fear, ignorance, hate, lies, fake news, disinformation, misinformation, propaganda, or severe mental illnesses — small groups form and trap each other within an information bubble of their own like-minded delusions.

Those Aren’t Friends — Networking contacts on Social Media are primarily total and complete strangers — from anywhere. Just because someone “likes” your post or adds you as a friend doesn’t necessarily mean that they are a good person. It doesn’t necessarily mean that they have honest, honorable, meaningful, or truthful intentions. Many of them don’t.

People Are Impressionable, Gullible, & Naive — You would like to think that people are smart enough to use their own common sense, critical ability, and deductive reasoning to challenge and question all of the disinformation, hate, ignorance, illusions, and lies out there — as well as to avoid all of the false advertising, rip-offs, and scams — but people are easily influenced and easily persuaded by Social Media — even when it’s total and complete bullshit, emotional conjecture, fake, false, fantasy, fiction, hype, inaccurate, incorrect, misleading, or wrong.

Social Media has a powerful influence over the ignorant and weak-minded.

Social Media Corporations Are Irresponsible & Unaccountable — One of the worst things about Social Media is that none of the Social Media Platforms assume any responsibility or accountability for anything mentioned above that is actually happening on any of their platforms — and that’s why they have all of those long Terms of Service agreements that you have to agree to, before using their service, but that nobody ever reads.

Have you ever tried to report abuse on Social Media? — It’s Virtually Impossible.

You Are the Product — If you are on Social Media — You Are the Product — and so are your contacts — because not only are they accessing your information and tracking your information to sell you products, they are selling your information to other partners and platforms. Privacy settings don’t mean anything, because they only protect you from other users — not the company or its partners — especially if ownership of the platform changes hands.

Try logging in to FaceBook with a Private Browsing Mode or Window. — You Can’t.

They Own You. Not Vice Versa.

If you don’t want to be tracked or shown an ad for exactly what you were just thinking about — you have to clear your web browser cache and history, close all the other apps, pages, and tabs that you may have open and running in the background. That’s how websites and Social Media Platforms are collecting your information, analyzing your algorithms, and tracking you.

Digital Addiction & Dependency — One of the most annoying things about Social Media would have to be the Digital Addiction & Dependency that it creates with the constant neural stimulation of push notifications, bells, whistles, and the flashing lights of ads, information, graphics, special effects, and videos — over-stimulating the dopamine levels in the brain — which is literally like brain drugs — not to mention the harmful effects of pumping all the bullshit, disinformation, fear, and negativity into one’s mind at the same time.

Smartphones are programming people’s attitudes, behaviors, ideas, reality, and thoughts.

Don’t Believe Me? Try turning off your cellphone for the day. Try a weekend. Try a week.

Try telling someone to delete their FaceBook account. Forget It.

The Fear of Missing Out (FoMo) is an addiction, dependency, and psychological disorder.

Mental Health Issues — There is absolutely no way to fully know or understand the impact that Social Media is having on mental health — because how much about its excessive use is caused by Social Media or the person’s own mental health to begin with? That’s the question.

The Positive Side — I’m not a negative person by any means. I’m not writing this, because I don’t care about people. I’m writing it, because I do care about people. The positive side of Social Media is only there if you use it responsibly, respectfully, and wisely. If you use Social Media — use it sparingly. Limit the amount of time you use it. Limit the amount of time that you let your kids use it. Avoid excessive use. Avoid extremist views. Protect your privacy to avoid scams. Don’t believe everything that you read or see (most of it is complete bullshit, disinformation, or emotional drivel). And if somebody out there sounds like they are totally delusional and nuts — then they probably are. So, be careful. Be Smart.

But understand this — Social Media is the outcropping, platform, and reflection of the collective ego, emotion, & mind of the world — arrogance, emotional imbalances, emotional reactions, and rigid intellectual opinions — most of which are designed to either disempower you or sell you something.

The spiritual journey is about transcending the collective ego, emotion, & mind of the world — to cultivate the quality of your own consciousness, energy, and light — with inner calmness, inner power, perception, understanding, and wisdom — and hopefully with Loving Kindness.

How can you possibly do that, if you’re constantly wrapped up in the collective ego, emotion, & mind dominating Social Media? — You Can’t. So, be cautious and mindful of the nonsense.

But you won’t find me on Social Media — because I’m Not On Social Media.

Thank you very much. You can have it.

Be Good and Be Safe.

Sincerely,
Khris Krepcik
